BIOGRAPHY
Felipe Carvajal started his studies in acoustic and flamenco guitar at the age of 11 in San José, Costa Rica. From a very early age, Carvajal became one of the most sought-after flamenco guitarists from his country, appearing as a composer and music director of many shows and ensembles.
In 2007, he participated as a soloist in the VIX International Guitar Festival, held at the Costa Rican National Theater, which included artists such as David Russell, Luis Salinas, and Juan Carlos Laguna.
During 2008, he performed in the VI International Guitar Festival of Arequipa, Peru, where he shared the stage with various international artists. Later that year, he also performed in the 1st International Guitar Festival of Nicaragua; in the cities of Managua and Granada.
In 2009, Carvajal performed again in the VXI International Guitar Festival in Costa Rica, sharing the stage with Victor Monge “Serranito;” and sharing lineup with Celso Machado, Elmer Ferrer, and many other important guitarists.
Later, he moved to Seville to continue his music studies at the Conservatory of Music in the specialty of flamenco guitar. During this time, he performed in various stages and “tablaos” as a soloist and as part of many different ensembles. Carvajal was the youngest artist that played in the 1st International Guitar Festival of Seville, in 2012.
In the year 2013, he was invited to the 4th edition of the International Guitar Festival “Cuerdas al Aire” in Lima, Peru. That year, he moved to Miami to study Music Composition at the Florida International University. In between 2013 and 2017 he studied composition with Orlando Garcia and guitar performance with Mesut Ozgen. Carvajal graduated with honors (“Summa Cum Laude”) and he received the Best Undergraduate Performance award. During this time also, Carvajal was invited to the Miami International GuitArt Festival in three opportunities (2016, 2017, and 2020 editions).

In the year 2017, Carvajal received from the government of the United States the recognition as an exceptional talent and giving him permanent residence in that country.
Carvajal has shared the stage with a large list of artists in very different genres, starting from Latin Music, Jazz, and classical up to rock and flamenco with musicians from Chile, Cuba, United States, Peru, Venezuela, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Scotland, Hungary, Poland, France, and many others.
His catalog of works includes music for theater, for small ensembles, arrangements of different genres, and music for media. Carvajal has extensive experience in the recording and music studio fields. He has recorded a great variety of music and worked as a recording and mixing engineer in award-winning projects.
He has participated in master classes with Manuel Montero, Aldo Rodríguez, Sébastien Váchez, Celso Machado, Jose Antonio Rodríguez, Alvaro Mátus, David Vargas, Eduardo Rebollar, Alonso Torres, Jose Pérez Muñoz, Alejandro Román, Jason Calloway, Scott Wilson, Lansing McLoskey, Chen-Hui Jen, Frederick Kaufman, Rick Snow, Jacob Sudol, Augusta Read Thomas and among many others.
Carvajal is currently living in Boynton Beach, Florida; collaborating with many different ensembles and working as a composer and producer in his own studio.
